Abstract

This book chapter focuses on Snodgrass TIP Urethroplasty, a surgical technique used for repairing urethral strictures and hypospadias in paediatric patients. A case presentation is provided, describing a child with distal penile hypospadias and mild chordee. The diagnosis is distal penile hypospadias with mild chordee.

The operative procedure involves catheterization, marking for TIP urethroplasty and glanular flaps, correction of chordee, Snodgrass TIP urethroplasty, and waterproofing with a tunica vaginalis blanket flap (TVBF). The postoperative period remains uneventful, and satisfactory results are observed during follow-up examinations.

The discussion section introduces Snodgrass TIP Urethroplasty, highlighting its purpose in repairing urethral strictures and hypospadias. The surgical techniques involved in the procedure are described, including patient evaluation and planning, anaesthesia, incision and exposure, tubularization and incision, suturing and closure, and postoperative care.

Advantages of Snodgrass TIP Urethroplasty include high success rates, minimally invasive nature, preservation of the urethral plate, and reduced risk of complications. The limitations of the technique, such as the need for surgical expertise and an individualized approach, are also discussed. The chapter emphasizes the practical application of Snodgrass TIP Urethroplasty in treating distal penile hypospadias with mild chordee, highlighting the importance of surgical experience, personalized treatment plans, and postoperative management.
