Abstract

In silico technologies have revolutionized protein research and drug development by enabling efficient analysis and design of potential therapeutics. These methods, including sequence databases, homology modeling, and molecular docking, play a crucial role in exploring protein structure, function, and interaction. Protein databases provide a wealth of publicly available information, while homology modeling predicts protein structures by leveraging similarities with known structures. Molecular docking allows for the study of molecule interactions, particularly in drug design. Moreover, these techniques aid in epitope prediction and rational vaccine design, facilitating the development of targeted vaccines. Additionally, in silico methods contribute to the understanding of molecular mimicry in autoimmune diseases and infertility by identifying shared antigenic determinants between pathogens and host proteins. This article aims to discuss the impact of in silico techniques on drug discovery, vaccine design, and the understanding of molecular mimicry, including its role in human infertility through the elucidation of molecular mimicry between human spermatozoa and bacteria.
