Abstract

The diapause intensity and hatchability of eggs of four bivoltine races of Bombyx mori L. (NB4D2, NB18, NB7 and KA) were studied. Occurence of diapaused eggs were less than 0.5% upto 30 hours of oviposition in NB4D2 and NB 18 and upto 35 hours in NB7 and KA and thereafter it was a increasing trend upto 50 hours of oviposition in acid treated eggs. Similarly, the hatchability was more than 95% upto 30 hours in NB4D2 and NB18 and upto 35 hours in NB7 and KA after oviposition and it was a decreasing trend up to 50 hours of oviposition.
