Abstract

A 100% Exporting Product Manufacturing Organisation located at SEEPZ, Andheri-East, Mumbai had
been functioning since 1990s. This Organisation was certified for having established Quality
Management System in accordance with ISO 9001-2000 standard by European Certifying
Organisation. As a Quality System Auditor of Certification Organisation, I had a chance to conduct
both Initial (Certification) Audit followed by Surveillance Audits of this customer Organisation.
In my second visit to this Organisation, I discovered through Audit that almost all Exported products
were delayed deliveries. However, the Organisation had not initiated any action to eliminate this issue.
Taking this Audit trail, I continued the Audit Cycle and traced the source.
With my previous experience of having conducted Value Added Audits, apart from issuing nonconformity,
I conducted one experiment through Organisation’s personnel. In the subsequent
Surveillance Audit, I discovered that there was a paradigm shift in performance. Then onwards, no
delayed delivery took place.
