Abstract

This Work aims at reporting resinous plantations silviculture in Morocco, by introducing basic concepts and rules related to forestry actions giving attention to the clearing, pruning and thinning operations. Also it deals with controlling maritime pine in lowlands and in mountainous areas.

This work will show how Silvicultural operations can aim at meeting the objectives established by forest management. It’s also envisioned to mention the bias underlying silvicultural actions to show that it is possible to improve both the trees growth and the quality of wood. What can render the application of these basics effective ones is a suitable stand, the time of pruning and the nature and the intensity of thinning.

Considering harvesting average girth of 100 cm, it becomes probably possible to reach at the age of 30 years for maritime pine in lowlands and the age of 40 years in mountains.
