Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the lactoferrin and leukocytes contents in bovine, sheep and goat milk samples using ELISA and flow cytometry techniques. Colostrum (first milk) was used as the standard. The results showed that lactoferrin content is higher in the case of goat milk followed by sheep and then bovine milks. In addition, leukocytes especially lymphocytes were higher in the case of the goat and bovine milks, followed by sheep milk. Colostrum milk, used as standard, showed a higher lactoferrin content, followed by goat, sheep and bovine milks.
