The manuscript offers an overview of the original inventions and experimental advancements in multi-reflecting time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MR-TOFMS) conducted by Mass Spectrometry Consulting (MSC), a private research company. The primary focus of the study revolves around the implementation of multiplexing techniques to enhance the analysis throughput, which refers to the amount of information obtained within a given time frame. MR-TOFMS not only provides panoramic spectra, thanks to its time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS) capabilities, but also significantly improves the resolving power, thereby yielding even more valuable data. The manuscript showcases the ability of MR-TOFMS with a resolving power of R=500,000 to effectively resolve isobars and enhance mass accuracy to sub-ppm levels. Additionally, the Encoded Frequent Pulsing (EFP™) method is introduced as a means to enhance sensitivity, expand the dynamic range, and enable various parallel and rapid tandem analysis methods utilizing ion traps, TOFMS, and ion mobility for efficient and lossless precursor ion separations.
