In all ten species of keratinophilic fungi belonging to phycomycetes. Ascomycetes and Deuteromycetes were recorded from soil samples supplemented with keratin baits like hair, skin particles, claws, feathers and nails. Microsporum canis appeared on all baits, while Syncephalastrum sp could colonize hair only. Trichophyton mentographyte showed dominant appearance on nails, skin particles and hair but it was absent on claw. Fusarium sp. exhibited maximum colonization of hair and skin particles. Overall maximum number of moulds were found colonizing the hair.
